Bill’s Priorities for Hagerstown

Public Safety
- Allocate resources to hire and train additional police officers to establish a visible and responsive presence in our neighborhoods.
- Support programs that deal with the root causes of crime, which include but are not limited to, education, mental health services, and community outreach to prevent crime and mitigate the burden on law enforcement.
- Work together with leaders of the community and local organizations to address systemic issues that relate to the safety of the public, and build a safer, more inclusive city for all residents.
Foster Sustainable Economic Growth
- Foster the economic growth in the city to generate new job opportunities and enhance the overall standard of living for residents.
- Concentrate on revitalizing neighborhoods that are economically underserved to ensure the economic growth benefits all residents.
- Streamline regulations and reduce rigid hurdles to make the city more appealing to businesses and entrepreneurs.
- Promote communication with residents and business owners to ensure that economic development advantages align with the needs and values of the community.
Processes + Procedures
- Create an environment of transparency and responsiveness within the code enforcement department to provide investors with clear guidelines and timelines.
- Develop a task force comprised of investors, code officials and local business leaders to identify and address issues obstructing economic development.
- Create a process for feedback for investors to report issues and contribute ideas on the permitting and inspection processes.
